  • Africa

    Africa

    The land of my forebears

The place where my placenta rests

The lands upon which warrior bloods flow

I desire to speak of her achievements

    And I stand to ponder

    What can I speak about?

    This causes me to wonder

    Do I speak of achievements?

    Do I speak of failures?

Do I speak of the past?

Or do I speak of a future?

Oh I’ll speak of her future

    A future so bright

    So full of hopes

That East and West clings to its glamours

    Yet, she is bleakened

Darkened and exposed at her core

With the many beguilements that plague her

    Deceptive promises

And the shortfalls of wily leaderships

    Beguiled with shortsightedness

    And selfishness

    With corruptions

    And insecurities

And pessimistic views that seem justified

    She appears cursed

Like a child whose choices mock his own potential

    And like a woman

Given to pain in the very act that brings her joy

    Is the African cursed?

The very things that bless her beguile her?

    A mother to great civilisations

Of the plains near the great nile, Egypt,

Of the plains of the vast Sahel, Nubia,

    Of the forests, Monomotapan dynasties

Yet, has she fallen to corruption?

    Friends no longer friends?

Where are the ideals that moved those who went before us?

    The ideas of Nkrumah

    Convictions that moved the Madiba

    Determinations that strengthened the Sankaras

These shredded off the chains of imperialism

    Where are their remains?

    Where are the offshoots?

    There is a clamouring darkness

    Calling for lights

    High intensities

Fierce and able to set new courses

    I look forward

    Hope beams me up

    Arise compatriots!

    Be strong!

A great light beams up hope ahead

For this dent of corruptions appear only as a chink

A chink into the armour that girds our hopes

Because I see upon the horizon

A generation that makes the difference

We are the offshoots you asked for

    The remains of ideals

    Planted by Nkrumah

Watered by General Sankara and the Great Lumumba

And tended by the nourishing wisdoms of the Madiba

    God bless Africa!

  • I am Hausa

    I am Hausa

    I am Hausa
    A proud Hausa
My heritage gives me the privilege
For which I am who I am

You may know me as something else
But that is just your opinion
Listen, let me tell you about myself

My origin is rooted in the travels of the great Bayajjida
    The traveller from Asia
As a traveller, he came to settle in the northern regions
South of the vast Sahara desert

My people are farmers and hunters
I am a proud tiller of the soil
    Animals skip at my appearance
Yes, I am a descendant of great hunters

You may have eaten some of my delicacies
Like masa, tuo masara, kunu ngida
But there is more you are yet to taste
Like gotte, pette, tuo shinkafa, kunu shinkafa
    And lots more!

  • Something Interesting Worth Sharing

    Background

As a measure to maintain social distancing, commercial cars have been instructed to take just two to three people on a normal sitting arrangements which take upto three to four people respectively.

    Story

Boarding a commercial vehicle which normally took maximum three people on a sitting row this morning, there was left three spaces to be filled (under the new circumstances of COVID 19)
Some four people came, board the car and actually sat in it.
If they were to take, it means there will be a compromise of just one person.
But the conductor and the driver refused, and instead, let go of the four potential passengers (due to COVID 19).
The issue is, the driver and his conductor could have easily compromised with the one potential passenger. But they refused and actually let go of four. This is very interesting because, these kinds of compromise were very frequent and actually done almost always in commercial vehicles in the country prior to COVID 19.

    My Take

This attitude gives me a lot of hope for the change in attitude among Ghanaians.
There only need to be a convincing reason. We can achieve a lot as a people.
There’s hope for the continent of Africa!

  • Today’s Women

Women have always stood among human species. Their uniqueness is a source of universal marvel across world societies. Throughout history, the feminine influence have been very vivid. Talk of Harriet Tubman, Helen Johnson, Isabel Martinez de Peron, Ruth Anku Gbetanu, Ama Duncan, these prominent women have continually raised the standard judgement society have always meted on the feminine figure.

On this day, I stand with today’s women and celebrate you for your immerse contribution to the survival of the human race.

    God Bless women!

  • An Independence Day Message to Ghanese

On the 6th of March 1957, the country Ghana was birthed as a new nation-state. Having its present name inspired from the “Old Ghana empire”, the country is now 61 years old. With rough and rugged leaderships experiences by the nation, it continues to stand out as the hope of Africa in most respects. This is due to the several factors, of which, the reason of God stands out.

Our knowledge of freedom, thought by some as good and others as vice versa continues to serve as the core of our nationhood. I am of the opinion that, an analysis of the impact of the knowledge of freedom by the Ghanaian must be left unanalyzed to the contemporary citizen of the country. Therefore, whether its been for our good, or the bad, we, as citizens (not spectators) must continue to keep the positive hope up. And surely, we know, that bright day looms on us.

All peoples in the world are equal, but Ghanaian have, and would continually stand out!

God Bless our Homeland Ghana, and make Her Great and Strong!

Happy Independence Day to all Ghanaian.

  • We Have A Duty!!!✊

Throughout the generations of all who traversed the fields of this university, there have been BUT only one motivation for everyone who made it out successfully and fulfilled.

That motivation has been the desire and the passion to fulfill their duty.

The desire to fulfill our duty is intrinsic. And it is good!

I believe it is time we make this happen; the time for us to begin A New Era for the land and ourselves.

  • How The Streets Are Taking Our “Future”: Child beggars in Ghana.

Am very sure Ghana is but a fragment of the entire equation of Child beggars.

This post is thorough and I believe other continental leaders might find it liberating!

  • The End of Injustice

    The End of Injustice

Who do I hush out with?
Who do I ponder the stiffness of life, and the unbalanced hand of justice with?
    Who is ready to listen?

    Everyone is blind
So do I gouge out my eyes?
    No!
    Does that not sound foolish?

“The blind cannot lead the blind …” No! not on the Path!
There goes the thought of an Ancient Man of renown
They who see must determine the course of action

    But do we see?
    What is right?
In today, right is subjective …

    But an assurance remains…
    Of a day which comeths
A day which is very nigh
When those who see would lead and those who lead would see …
Yes! That day dawns upon us where those who see RIGHT, would be called leaders (by definition).

    Let our eyes see …

  • A New Year’s Message

It’s still early in the year, and we must keep our focus on! The resolutions of yesternight calls on us to keep our faces straightened. As the minutes begin to trickle into hours which sums up to make days, we must begin concentration of our efforts onto our plans if we are going to achieve those resolutions of 31st night.

2018 is young, and so is our energy for the year. Let’s keep the focus on, and with all determinations, the God we believe would give us victory when the whistle that began this year stops us for the next!

    What’s your resolve, friend?

    Happy New Year, everyone!
